Space suits

by Team Oyeniyi

One of the things we did trying to stay awake to throw our body clocks into the local time zone was a visit to the Kennedy Space Centre.  If you ever get the chance, it is WELL WORTH the visit!

I will write more about the visit at a later date, but in the interim here are some space suits! These are REAL space suits!  Click on the images to see them in a larger size as they are really interesting – I can’t imagine going to the gym in them!

They do look the worse for wear these days, but I suppose they also did get a work out. I can’t imagine moving around in them, they looked VERY uncomfortable and also surprisingly small.

Seriously cool. Got to admire the courage of the astronauts. Especially the early ones. I have Michael Collins’ autobiography, which goes into signifcant detail about the bathroom aspects of early spaceflight. (I won’t).

Check the rest of the pictures I have posted. I didn’t get a shot of the tiny cabin, I’m still haunted by the 14 days in such a small space!

I’m not sure I want to know the toilet arrangements – I like the mystery better!

Kennedy Space Center is an inspiring place to visit.

Great shots. Can you imagine having to maneuver around in those behemoths? Astronauts need lots of training.

They lookd very uncomfortable, Nancy. I suppose the lower gravity helps, but even so, very cumbersome!

We saw a module two guys spent 14 days in together. SO TINY!!! You’d have to REALLY get along! It was like sitting in a mini minor. Bathroom activities didn’t even bear thinking about!!!
