Today, August 20, 2012, I received a communication in the mail. The snail mail type of mail. Not surprising, as we recently moved.
The letter is dated August 16, 2012. Given there was a weekend in the middle, that would be about the right delivery time. Yes? Yes.
The problem is the period of time this letter actually refers too. The important bit reads as follows:
“… your Electricity connection is scheduled for 03 August 2012. To avoid delays, it’s really important that we have easy access to your meter on the day …”
I am sure it WAS really important – 17 days ago!
No wonder our energy charges are so high, when we pay for such systems fails as this. What on earth is the use of sending me a letter 17 days AFTER the event? Furthermore, it certainly doesn’t inspire confidence in my energy provider!
On a good note, the paper is recyclable and Australian made. Why is it not recycled paper?
I think the problem is global actually.
So it seems judging by the comments! Quite unbelievable really. How hard is it to put a line of code in there to test the dates!
Say, these electricity goons aren’t the same people that run some of NZ’s electricity companies, are they? Sounds awfully like them…
I have no idea, but maybe. Some of these companies are trans-Tasman operators. But goons is a good description of at least someone in the organization. I have both gas and electricity with them. Heaven help us!
That’s great . . . be sure you give them access to the meter on 8/3 or you might really muck up their efficiency..

Remember that time is a continuum that can be warped along with physical space. Gravity is a force that warps space and time and massively heavy and cumbersome structures such as galaxies, pulsars and black holes warp space time and can even swallow light and slow time down ,even reverse it. The more mass and weight a structure has the more it will warp space time. Electricity company multiplied by postal system creates a huge mass that slows down time and swallows light, leaving you crushed by the mass of stupidity and left in the dark; often literally. In fact an electricity company multiplied by a postal system creates so much mass it collapses into a black hole that swallows sense, reason and people like you and I, along with all our rationality, hopes and dreams. You are victim of cosmic forces I’m afraid, The only force equal to and often greater than these is love, which travels faster than the speed of life and is the origin of all intelligent life. Hug someone really tight for a bit and the laser bolts of the clone armies of the Electric Empire will bounce off you; love is the force!
