Digging out from under the mess

by Team Oyeniyi

Continued from Death by MOVING.

Another plant I can’t figure out is this one.  Young lettuce, perhaps?

Unknown vegetable

Another Mystery Plant

Not only do we have some strange plants outside, we have this equipment/thing/???? hanging in the hallway!

Thing

What is it??

Has anyone ANY idea what it actually is?  The light(?) doesn’t work and it has a switch or nob that does nothing, as far as we can determine.

Then there is our disaster of a kitchen.  Actually, it looks worse NOW than it did when this picture was taken!  Yes, the oven STILL does not work!  Did not hear from the agent’s yesterday and will be giving them a call very shortly.  This is our sixth day of possession and we still have no oven and no dishwasher.  We do have two fridges.  A few days ago we actually had three, but we managed to give my old small fridge away.  Just as well we have surplus fridge capacity given we can’t actually cook!

The bathroom, thanks to the girls, looks lovely now and is workable. The lounge is almost there and the kids’ lounge is getting closer. We have Foxtel back (that was Monday, actually) and the internet it on, I just haven’t connected it up yet. Tempted not to until the bedrooms are PRISTINE!

Our bedrooms, including Mum & Dad, are just disaster zones. Moving from a house with heaps of lovely cupboards to one with minimal cupboard space is a challenge we need to spend money to solve, unless anyone has a spare wardrobe or two out in the garage. We will come to collect if you are not too far away (downtown New York is DEFINITELY too far away)!

The laundry is also organised AND is large enough to leave the ironing board up all the time! Woo hoo for those who iron (not me).

The rent for the final few days at the old house was paid yesterday: $627.11 I kid you not. ELEVEN CENTS!!!

Not planning on moving again any time soon……………………

Sounds like you are getting settled in good order. Having the oven working will be a step in the right direction.

Looks like lettuce and a door chime to me.

I have to say it is a VERY long door chime. I reckon it is almost as tall as I!

      Lettuce was my guess.

Hope you are settling into your new routine too, Nancy.

The oven HOPEFULLY might get fixed next week.

I think the mystery poles is something to do with a very old fashioned door chime. Plant…have fun and wait and see :)

PS good luck with your “pigging” oven. I can feel your frustration :)

Oh, yes! I should add a link to your oven saga! Didn’t get to call the agent yesterday and have a 7am start this morning, so hopefully will get to call them today. I want an oven before the weekend!

I have no idea about the plant, but the equipment is definitely a door chime, my grand parents had one.Kitchen looks like a good family room!

I will have to search for the pull rope or whatever mechanism it is.

The kitchen is doubling as a dining room as we have made the actual dining room into a family room for the kids. Luckily the kitchen is big enough although I have lowered the extension panel so the table is now sized to seat 6, not 8.

Robyn, the tubes look like door chimes to me. Is there a push button on the front door? Just a suggestion. Good luck in your new home. xx

You know what? Probably an old pull cord door chime! Cord long gone. I think you are on to something! Thank you for the good wishes!
