The BEST news: Visa Grant Day! Permanent Residency!
Last night Miss O 1 was cooking stir-fry for dinner. I wasn’t as late as I might have been, so we were all home.
I had checked my emails earlier in the day as I had received a phone call from DIAC last Thursday which gave me the impression we might hear something soon. There had been no email at that time and I hadn’t had time to check again.
Mr O commented, “I’ll just check my emails.”
Over the chatter of eating children there was suddenly lots of noise. Mr O leapt out of his chair and started dancing around the diningroom!
“We got it, we got it! I love you, my forever wife!”
Lots of hugs and kisses followed. We are not sure the children really understand the importance, but we do! Attached to the email was a copy of the formal letter, which we will receive in the snail-mail shortly.
Although I have mentioned before it is stressful waiting, I don’t think we realised just how stressful until that stress was gone. We did not expect there to be a problem with the final grant of permanent residency, but no matter how confident one is, until it is signed, sealed and delivered, there is always that nagging fear. It hangs there like a cloud, blocking the sunshine of life.
We NEVER drink on a school night, but last night was worth a celebratory toast! It was a DAMN GOOD NIGHT!
Thank you very much to the staff at the Partner (Permanent) Processing Centre of DIAC for speedy processing. This enables Mr O to receive the Adult Apprenticeship Incentive: with four kids, this is worth a lot to us! Especially since our rent jumped $80 a week!
I can see how both of us, Mr O particularly, is just more relaxed. He went off to work this morning knowing our new life is permanent. We are safe.

Congrats! I’m still waiting for my wife’s partner visa (309). it’s a bit sad since we had to be separated although we just got married.
Hopefully you will not be apart long! Thank you for the congratulations!
Congratulations! Isn’t it amazing how blogging friends impact on our lives? We’ve never met and yet I’ve just sobbed with delight for you all. Good luck, now you can finally move on with your lives.
Thanks Gilly! We were pretty excited! As much as I don’t want you crying for us, I DO take that as a compliment on my writing, for it means I must have written well enough for you to feel for us! {hugs}
Whoop! Whoop! Whoop! how absolutely marvellous Robyn and the “O” family… Relax and enjoy..
Helen, we are VERY happy and relieved. Life is now NORMAL for the first time in a long time!
WONDERFUL! WONDERFUL! WONDERFUL! …I am SO HAPPY for all of you….what a remarkable relief and sense of joy you must have! Boisterous and delighted congratulations!
Thank you, thank you! Such elation for us!
We’ve been gathering ingredients for making a Pavlova over at PP…a terrific dessert for celebrations! (if anyone has that much of a VERY sweet tooth! ..which we do!)
Pavlovas are wonderful – BUT there is a BIG debate/argument between Australia and New Zealand about where they originated! Both countries claim to be the “owner” of Pavlovas. Of course you have to use kiwi fruit! Fresh whipped cream is a must – can you get that? I know my Aussie friend in Florida bemoans the fact he cannot get fresh cream for pavlovas.
“fresh” cream??….ummmm…is that different from ordinary “store bought” cream that one then whip? fresh???
My friend says the only store bought cream he can get is in a spray can?
YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I want to make this 28pt and bold!
~I am so happy for you all. It’s been such a long and stressful journey
Virtual hugs
