Interview of Team Oyeniyi shown on Channel 31

by Team Oyeniyi

I promised to publish, despite how bad I look on camera (never wear pale lipstick on TV), so here we proudly present Natalie Yoannidis’ assignment interview.   Many thanks to Natalie for allowing us to share her work.  If you wonder if I am ever nervous about pushing the “Publish” button – this is the time!

Thanks RNP! Just got to lose the weight – I HATE HATE HATE it!!!!! Despite the fact that if I lost weight in Nigeria people would ask if I was alright. Losing wieght means illness or poverty in Nigeria, so some adjustment is required. :)

Fab is lovely, but the problem is Nancy, I know what I looked like before all this started: that is the me I want back! Oh well, in time. Can’t achieve everything at once!

Thank you Helen. This wasn’t the main national news, but certainly a little publicity for the cause for change.

I truly applaud you for taking on this whole situation when many others would have run in the opposite direction. You both look great on camera, but most of all, you seem to be thriving and surviving off camera. This gives hope to many others who are struggling and have not yet got to where you are today.

Caring for children, a husband and writing a book is no easy task, but with your determination I know it will get done. Continue to push against the tide. Encouraging post.

Thank you and welcome. We are glad that we do give hope to others: many of the contacts we receive tell us just that. It is good to know others not on the situation also see the encouraging aspects.

      Never give up!

Good to see your story is getting some press, er, airtime. The kids look happy and healthy, and you & John look good, too, despite all the stress and pressure. Battle on!

Thank you Beverly. Yes, there has been pressure and a lot of stress, but we are indeed getting there. I think in some ways we are all still recovering, but recovering well. That is the main thing!

Thanks for sharing the interview – you have a beautiful and well-adjusted family, Robyn. Through all the struggles you and John have overcome the odds – your story is an inspiration. Good luck with the book – your story needs to be told.

Thank you Alex! I think I can piece together where you are from, thank you for stopping by and I am glad you are both saddened and inspired – that is exactly what I hope my book will achieve for my readers – I want readers to feel sad about the current situation but also inspired to encourage change!

Hi Robyn. I should have IDd myself – Alex aka @dreshubby on twitter. Just so glad to see how you have overcome the giant. Now for the next giant – the book :-)

      • Jun 1 2012

Alex – draft 1 stands at 92,000 words – I’m new at this non-technical writing stuff – I’m in the process of editing draft 1 into draft 2. :) It is hard work finding the time with a full time job and a full time family.

Any offers of beta readers gratefully received! :D

That’ll depend on when you need a beta reader – My calendar look better after September :-/ . I can understand that your hands are quite full. Life with so many responsibilities but at least you are a team doing it together!

      • Jun 2 2012

I was half joking Alex – I don’t expect anyone to really have the time – but if someone did, I wouldn’t say no!

Thanks for sharing your story and struggles. It’s been a long road and it’s wonderful to see everyone thriving in their new home. Wishing you and Team O all the best!

And you look great and your family looks so happy. I can’t believe the little one sung off the monkey bars with no hands, and did a back flip!

You missed the concussion article? THAT is how it probably happened. She LOVES her flips – and refuses to wear her summer school DRESS to school (uniform culottes only, please) because she cannot do flips in a dress!

Thanks for the compliment, but I know what size I was BEFORE I started sitting at a computer endlessly fighting the battle. I WILL get back, but at the moment other things take priority.

They are sure thriving – so much we wish they would stop GROWING out of everything!
