Interview with Mr O Jnr 2

by Team Oyeniyi

This is the second in a series of interviews with the new arrivals.  For no reason other than Mr O’s brain is taking a well-earned break after so much studying, we have started with the youngest we are working up the line.

Welcome to Mr O Jnr 2!

Being Cool

Being Cool

Did you enjoy the plane flight to Australia?

No, I did not, because I was sick in the plane and going to the toilet every minute!  It was scary when the plane was landing.  I thought the plane was going up, I did not know the plane was landing.  I thought we were going to go on one plane to Australia, but it was two planes!  The plane was too big, I thought there would be nothing much inside, but there were many things to play with: there was a TV to play games and we could watch movies.

What was the biggest surprise for you when you arrived?

The cold!  It was freezing and we had no jackets on.  It was a surprise when Mummy gave us jackets because how did she know that was our size?

What do you miss most from Nigeria that we do not have here in Australia?

I miss my Mum and my friends at home.  I miss all the food in Nigeria that we don’t have here, but I am  eating everything in Autralia!

What do you like the most about Australia so far?

I like riding a bike, we have classes at school and that is why I am saving my money to buy a bike.  I like that the light stays on in Australia.

Have you learnt things at school that you had never heard of before?

I have learnt how to play bat tennis.  I knew how to play ping pong before.  I have learnt more English.

What is your favourite food in Nigeria?

Noodles and fried egg is my favourite and Amala ati gbegiri pelu ewedu which is silver beet, pounded yam and meat with a little bit of red pepper stew.

Amala ati gbegiri pelu ewedu

Mufan's favourite Nigerian food: Amala ati gbegiri pelu ewedu

 .

What is your favourite food in Australia?

I like sausages and meat pies.

What is your least favourite food in Australia?

I can’t think of anything yet that I really do not like, but I haven’t tried everything!

What do you like best about your new school?

Learning to ride a bike at school and we rode a bike for a test and we are going to get a certificate.

Who did you like the best on X-Factor?

Three Wishez!

Are you looking forward to Grade 6?

To be the head of the school!  We will be the seniors of the school.

What is you favourite thing to do?

I would like to ride the bike every day for some exercise!  In Nigeria my favourite thing to do was to go to Arabic school because it was more education and I would know how to speak Arabic if I went to other countries.

Thank you Mr O Jnr 2 for taking the time from your breakfast to do this interview!

Mr O Jnr 2 is also singing carols tonight. Tonight Daddy is being the parent figure alone, I am just too tired to tackle going ANYWHERE! It has been a long two years.

I’m not sure who else he likes, but he is very fond of modern Nigerian artists, I do know that.

Very Nice Interview Mr O Jnr. I’m sorry to hear that you were sick on the plane.

Will that put you off flying in future?

Or would you like to go and get a Pilots License?

    Do you enjoy watching Football?

If so, who is your favourite team?

      Chelsea is my favourite team.

No, I do not want to get a pilot’s licence because Mum says I need 10 hours sleep for my brain and I don’t sleep for 10 hours.

You must be very pleased with the result against Manchester City :-)

When you are older you’ll learn to drive – you won’t need so many hours then and who knows what you’ll be able to do :-)

Good luck for the future :-)

I wonder how your Mummy knew the size of the jackets as well! Clever old thing :) I’m useless at gauging sizes.

Not sure if you’ve had time yet, but what are your hobbies?

Who is your favourite pop singer or group?

PS I love sausages especially pork and herb which are BBQ’d

    Kind regards,

Your favorite subject is art and guess what? I’m an artist. I loved drawing and painting when I was young and I still love it. You sound like you are adjusting to your new home very well. I’d love to see a photo of you riding a bike. Maybe your Mom will take one of you and post it.

I also love art and playing on the net…but art is creative the net is not :(

    • Dec 12 2011

I worked out the sizes by a mixture of remembering how big they were a year before and taking their ages into consideration – so it was a combination! I was surprised I got the sizes as close as I did!

No questions, Mr O Jnr 2 – but congratulations on having adapted to life in a new country. I think it is important to remember and cherish the old as well as embrace the new. You are doing well.
